Four groups of small outcrops of granite were located and surface sampled from in the vicinity of Waltowa, 7 km north of Meningie, with a view to identifying stone with ornamental possibilities that may match the West Island, Encounter Bay, granite used in the construction of South Australia's Parliament House. Diamond drilling will be required to obtain core samples of unweathered rock suitable for cutting and polishing, to allow a proper assessment of the granite's industrial potential.
