Following initial assessment of available data, exploration for copper, gold and base metals in an area 60 km west of Tarcoola concentrated on regional calcrete sampling. Analysis for gold and a suite of base metals indicated several areas of sporadic low level gold anomalism, up to 14 ppb gold. Repeat and infill sampling confirmed anomalous gold values, but failed to either elevate the level of anomalism or to reduce the sporadic distribution of anomalous values. RAB drilling at two anomalous areas (11 holes, 491 m) indicated a cover thickness in excess of 80 m of surficial sediments over, in part, kaolinised granite, but failed to return any significant gold or base metal values. Failure to reach agreement with native title claimants precluded further exploration.
