Exploration for large-scale opal deposits over an area north and north-west from Coober Pedy included literature research, air photo interpretation, digital terrain modelling, and field reconnaissance. No unrecorded previous opal workings were located, and the target host lithology, the Bulldog Shale, was found to be absent or not of suitable thickness within the surrendered areas.
