EL 2635, formerly EL 1976, straddled the Barrier Highway 25 km east of Olary. The licence covered ground initially taken up by MIM in late 1986, and all that company's work prior to mid 1994, with emphasis on investigating the Luxemburg - Premier mines and MacDonald Fault areas, has previously been released in Env 9711. Work completed thereafter concentrated mainly on the Green and Gold and Wilkins prospects, and consisted of orientation soil geochemical surveys, ground magnetic and IP surveys, interpretation of recent AGSO/MESA aeromagnetic data, and drilling at both prospects, comprising seven RC percussion holes for 1072 m, and five pre-collared diamond holes for 830 m of core and 1280.5 m total depth. Encouraging results that were obtained included mineralised intersections of 10 m @ 0.89% Cu and 2 m @ 8.3 g/t Au. Continuing soil geochemical and ground geophysical surveys, plus photolineament interpretation and drillcore sample mineragraphic studies of mineralised quartz-magnetite boudin structures, then refined these targets: follow-up drilling comprised 22 RC percussion holes (2398 m) with four diamond tails (359 m), plus 19 RAB holes (218 m). This yielded several additional encouraging intersections, with results such as 8 m @ 0.86% Cu and 0.22 g/t Au. Subsequently, MIM proceeded to define other, new targets which were tested over the three-year period until now by aircore and reverse circulation drilling programmes totalling 160 holes for 2791 m, plus two pre-collared diamond holes (125.53 m core, 327.33 m total). However, no further mineralisation of economic significance was revealed by this work. Recent attempts made by MIM to secure a joint venture partner were unsuccessful.
