The presence of historic hard rock and alluvial goldfields in the Waukaringa - Lovely's Gully area, 35 km north of Yunta, prompted acquisition of the licence to explore the gold and other metal potential of surficial and deeper, altered cover sediments and any associated shallow basement rocks. In addition, a nearby untouched dry salt lake was thought to harbour some potential for oil shale and gypsum in its surrounding and underlying sediments. A structural and geological evaluation, coupled with re-interpretation of aeromagnetic and radiometric data, identified several target areas considered worthy of further work. Environmental and access concerns delayed activity, and the licence expired.
