EL 2789 covered the Charleston Granite, a large inferred Hiltaba Suite granitoid located at the southern termination of the Middleback Range, 60 km southwest of Whyalla. The area was considered prospective for shear - hosted gold mineralisation associated with the granitoid, and for iron oxide Cu-Au mineralisation associated with iron-rich units of the Middleback Subgroup. Geochemical sampling of predominantly calcareous material across the northern half of the licence defined weakly anomalous gold and copper values to the west of the Middleback Range, and scattered spot base metal highs, primarily along the western edge of the licence. Weakly anomalous gold values to a maximum of 5.2 ppb Au form a number of closely spaced +2 ppb Au clusters which are coincident or partially coincident with a broader zone of elevated copper values to a maximum of 25 ppm Cu. Non-coincident spot Pb and Zn highs occur close to the interpreted edge of the Charleston Granite, with maximum values of 13 ppm and 44 ppm respectively. Due to the low order Au and Cu anomalism, none of these geochemical targets were followed up.
