An area centred 60 km north-west of Cowell was considered prospective for iron mineralisation within banded iron formations of the Middleback Subgroup, and for skarn - type gold and base metals associated with Hutchison Group metasediments. Following a review of potential iron ore prospects throughout the southern Gawler Craton, based on aeromagnetic interpretation and historic data, a limited programme of geological mapping and rock chip sampling returned generally low gold and base metal values.
