Metallurgical and beneficiation tests carried out on samples from the Ethiudna wollastonite deposit, located 60 km north-west of Olary, have indicated that a treated primary ore concentrate containing 76% wollastonite can be produced at a recovery of 55%, which represents a 2.3 times concentration factor, by using a process comprising grinding, desliming, high intensity wet magnetic separation, and anionic and cationic flotation. Further investigation of each of the beneficiation stages will next be undertaken, to enable future production of readily saleable premium grade (96% wollastonite; low Fe oxide content; aspect ratio 20:1) concentrates at an acceptable recovery.
