Stratiform copper mineralisation in Neoproterozoic sediments of the Stuart Shelf, and Olympic Dam style Cu-Au mineralisation in Mesoproterozoic basement, were the targets of exploration in an area 50 km south-west from Mount Gunson. A regional soil geochemistry progamme was undertaken in the south-east corner of the licence, with approximately 590 samples collected on a 400 m by 400 m grid. Several anomalous areas were outlined, although results tended to be diffuse, possibly reflecting the wide sample spacing. Following evaluation of available gravity and magnetic data, a ground gravity survey was carried out along lines coincident with existing aeromagnetic flight lines. This work led to interpretation of an elongate gravity high offset from a parallel magnetic high, geophysical features possibly sourced by a lithological package varying in density and magnetic susceptibility. Exploration programs in other parts of a larger project area were considered to have higher priority, and therefore the licence was surrendered.
