A strong, reversely remanent magnetised aeromagnetic anomaly located in the Coompana - Nullarbor area, and much evident in available geophysical data, was thought to be suggestive of one or more, probably causative mafic-ultramafic intrusive centres with the potential to host Voiseys Bay type nickel-copper-platinoid massive sulphide mineralisation. Modelling of the aeromagnetic and gravity data, together with a review of historic drilling results, reinforced the interpretation of mafic magmatism, but also indicated a need for more detailed geophysical surveys to adequately define targets, particularly in modelling depth to basement under a 300 plus m thickness of cover.
