The major aim of this project is to develop a method of leaching a range of ore types in the Honeymoon deposit using the push-pull technique. For alkaline leaching, reagent conditions were based on laboratory bottle roll studies and data from the previous field programme in 1977. For acid leaching, several different oxidants were studied - ferric sulphate, hydrogen peroxide and Caro's acid. 11 push-pull tests have been carried out on 5 boreholes using both acid and alkaline reagents. The testing procedure was varied to ensure that all of the dissolved uranium was recovered, and time samples were taken to give dissolution rates. An experimental programme of work has now also been outlined so that the development of the Honeymoon deposit can be extended to the pilot plant stage. This involves creation of a preliminary process flowsheet by studying a number of unit operations at the laboratory scale.
