Mineralisation analogous to that occurring at the giant Canadian Voisey's Bay Ni-Cu deposit, and Olympic Dam style Cu-Au mineralisation, were the conceptual targets of exploration in the Maralinga area, 40 to 80 km south and south-west from Ooldea. Although the geological setting appears promising, the licences had to be surrendered without work when licensee company resources were directed elsewhere.
