Gold and base metal mineralisation hosted by Neoproterozoic sediments of the Adelaide Geosyncline were the targets of exploration in areas located immediately west and south of Marree. A review of available data and limited field reconnaissance and sampling indicated some potential for the target mineralisation, but difficulties in reaching land access agreements with Native Title claimants caused the project to be abandoned.
