The Intercept Hill area, located between the mining centres of Olympic Dam and Mount Gunson, and geographically coincident with the trans-continental G2 gravity corridor, was considered to have potential for Olympic Dam style deposits in Mesoproterozoic basement, and for stratabound base metal deposits in overlying Neoproterozoic sediments. Compilation and evaluation of available geochemical and geological data indicated a significant multi-element geochemical anomaly in the sediments, considered worthy of follow-up by gravity surveys and drilling. When a joint venture partner could not be attracted, the licence was surrendered.
