Olympic Dam style copper-gold mineralisation was the target of exploration in an area which lies about 100 km north-east of Port Augusta, and adjacent to south-eastern Lake Torrens. All of the available aeromagnetic data for this area were re-processed and re-interpreted, resulting in the definition of several anomalous features which were investigated by detailed ground gravity surveys. The results suggest that most magnetic anomalies are due to linear, dyke-like features, while several anomalies have been interpreted as being of possible volcanic origin. These latter anomalies require further modelling to provide follow-up drilling targets. A preliminary 12 drilling targets have been selected, where holes are planned to reach a total depth of 350 m to investigate the basement geology and provide samples for testing to allow calibration of the geophysical models.
