Possible primary gold and platinum - palladium mineralisation which might have formed in Palaeoproterozoic basic igneous rocks of the Myponga Inlier were the targets of exploration in an area 60 km south of Adelaide. Work undertaken comprised a field reconnaissance, surface soil (29) and rock chip grab (36) geochemical sampling, and the re-logging and re-sampling (75) of stored drill core material from sixteen historic diamond drillholes that is held by the PIRSA Core Library. No significant assay results were obtained. Only one sample from the Wild Dog prospect returned more than 0.1 ppm Pt + Pd, from the sampled drill core interval 10.67 to 13.72 m in hole WD DDH06 located at the northern end of the Lode 2 mineralisation, with 0.122 ppm Pd over 3 m and only traces of Pt. By contrast, a hole drilled by Uranerz in the 1980s close to this location had returned 40 ppb Pd over 2 m. The highest gold value encountered was 0.011 ppm Au from the sampled drill core interval 4.57 to 7.62 m in hole WD DDH13.
