During September 1999, a single diamond drillhole, fully cored to 599 m total depth, was put down within the Karinya Syncline 12 km south-east of Eudunda, targeting possible economic buried syngenetic - epigenetic Pb-Zn-Ag mineralisation hosted in sediments of the Cambrian Tapanappa Formation. While the hole failed to intersect economic mineralisation, the results that it obtained, together with new findings from concurrent field stratigraphic studies, indicate a volcanogenic/exhalative association for strata in the Karinya Syncline, with good potential for them to host sedex - type base metal deposits.
