Magnesite beds formed within the Late Proterozoic Skillogalee Dolomite were the targets of exploration in the southern Flinders Ranges, 15 km east of Port Pirie. Field mapping and sampling, together with the acquisition and image processing of an airborne hyperspectral survey that utilized the Hymap method, have identified exposed or shallowly (< 5 m) buried magnesite horizons striking north-south along four anticlinal fold limbs throughout the entire 75 km long central portion of the licence area retained. No magnesite beds were interpreted to outcrop in the surrendered area.
