Exploration for economic near-surface deposits of gold and base metals, in an area of possibly hydrothermally-altered Hiltaba Suite Mesoproterozoic basement located 20 km north-east of Kimba, comprised an assessment of previously acquired soil and calcrete geochemical data, reprocessing and interpretation of aeromagnetic data to define possible bedrock alteration zones with demagnetized signatures, and compilation of a regolith landform and weathering history characterisation study using Landsat ETM+7 multiband satellite imagery. No coherent or strong geochemical anomalies could be discerned in the calcrete or soil data, although a 5 ppb diffuse anomaly at Ziggy's Corner does appear to extend into the adjoining Lake Gilles EL 3020. Furthermore, the now relinquished southern half of the licence was deemed to contain no geophysical features in the basement that might reflect iron oxide-associated Cu-Au style targets worthy of testing.
