The phosphate potential of the Cambrian Andamooka Limestone, inferred to outcrop on the plain near the lake shoreline just to the north-east of Lake Torrens, was investigated by geological photointerpretation and ground reconnaissance. Due to poor rock exposure it was not possible to define the extent of the Andamooka Limestone, nor to map its facies relationships. The only phosphate material located was at Lake Arthur on the very north-western boundary of EL 241. This appeared to be of low grade and discontinuous. Due to the lack of stratigraphic and geochemical information on which to base any drilling, tenure of the area was surrendered.
