Fourteen rotary holes were drilled totalling 1362 metres. Coal was intersected as thin stringers in the Cretaceous Cadna-owie Formation in MU-3 and MU-13, and as a 1 metre thick seam in the Permian Mount Toondina Formation in MU-2, but is not regarded as economic. Proterozoic granite basement was intersected in MU-7 and MU-9. Large volumes of brackish groundwater were encountered whilst drilling within the Eromanga Basin Algebuckina Sandstone and Cadna-owie units.
