TARGET: Coal horizons developed within Mesozoic sediments on the south-western margin of the Great Artesian Basin. RESULTS: Two vertical rotary mud holes (total 122 m) were drilled, transecting Mesozoic sediments and reaching basement at relatively shallow depths, indicating that this basement high extends north-westwards from within the company's adjoining EL 229 Coward Cliff. Although the Cretaceous shale beds intersected were carbonaceous, no coal horizons were encountered.
