Results of rotary percussion / diamond core drilling of 3 holes (total penetration 532.2 m, of which 341.2 m was cored) near the Black Eagle mine on the western margin of the Cambrian Ediacara Sub-basin, plus a reinterpretation of previous drilling data and of geophysical data from the 1961-1963 IP survey carried out by SADM, when combined by Carpentaria with the results of their recent drilling on their adjacent EL 78, Moro Gorge, were not encouraging to continuing the search for Mississippi Valley - type lead-zinc deposits in the central-western Flinders Ranges. It was noted that the best-developed subsurface base metal mineralisation at Black Eagle was found near the interface between leached and massive Cambrian dolomite (here containing up to 3.5% Cu, 7.6% Pb, 1.0% Zn and 60 ppm Ag).
