Exploration for possible marine placer heavy mineral sands deposits within Recent sediments laid down across a large part of east-central Kangaroo Island, due south of Kingscote, has comprised a literature survey, limited field geological investigations and surficial sediment heavy mineral analyses, examination and mineralogical analysis of stored downhole samples from past SADME drilling in the area, full preparations for a reconnaissance exploratory drilling programme along local roadsides, and completion of a consultant's floral survey of vegetation at proposed drill sites. However, execution of the drilling was postponed and eventually abandoned owing to the licensee's focus on preparing the final feasibility study for its Mindarie Project in SA's Murray Basin.
