Possible buried Palaeoproterozoic stratiform to stratabound Cloncurry style Cu-Au mineralisation was the principal objective of exploration undertaken over an area located approximately 60 km north-east of Olary. Other conceptual targets included Broken Hill type Pb-Ag-Zn-Cu, Cues Formation style metamorphosed volcanosedimentary Zn-Cu, and shear-hosted gold within quartz veins. A NW trending crustal-scale, deep seated fault zone, the Mooleulooloo Fault Corridor, which has the Portia-Benagerie and Kalkaroo mineral deposits lying along its trace, passes through the centre of the Bundera Well licence area, and could affect the location of mineralisation there. Several shallow-seated, multi-phase granitic plutons with known minor base metal sulphide emanations also occur in the licence vicinity. Initially, all available data from past explorers of this area was reviewed. Next, detailed ground magnetics (~23 line km) was completed over three dispersed but prominent aeromagnetic anomalies that had been selected as having potential for hidden stratabound Cu-Au mineralisation. These anomalies were interpreted to lie within infolded subcrop zones of Thackaringa Group rocks, and might originate from mineralisation formed within the Upper Albite - Himalaya Formation interval. The ground magnetic readings were interpreted and modelled, but the target magnetic source depths appeared to be too deep (70-160 m) to permit cost-effective RAB drilling. Instead, Platsearch carried out an auger drilling rhizome calcrete sampling programme across the three magnetic anomalies, and compiled and interpreted the analyses. The results were not encouraging, so it was decided not to renew the licence for a second term.
