In April 2002 the Botenella Range EL 2843 was sold by Anglogold Australasia to Aquila SA Pty Ltd, who reviewed the available data from the calcrete sampling programme, and developed a new exploration strategy for the project based on detailed gravity surveys and geophysical modelling being used to locate potential buried bodies of iron-oxide associated with copper-gold (base metal) mineralisation. In the ensuing three years during which Aquila has held the ground, the following work has been done: - a compilation of geochemical data with the adoption of the GDA 94 coordinate system. - an assessment of the previously generated results, which showed that there were no strong or direct leads generated from the calcrete sampling. Anomalous results that were followed up were not enhanced by the infill sampling. The Jiggy's Corner gold anomaly appeared to be of the most interest as it linked up with a calcrete anomaly on the adjoining Lake Gilles tenement (EL 3020) to the east. It was recognised that the anomaly was not cohesive as the values were widely dispersed. However, it does appear to be real, and is possibly associated with Fe metasomatism on the western contact of a north-west trending deeply buried granite. - aeromagnetic data were reprocessed and interpreted. - the south-western portion of the tenement was relinquished in September 2002, as it was seen to be mostly underlain by unprospective units of the Warrow Quartzite. There, stream sediment, calcrete and rock chip sampling had failed to indicate any gold anomalism worthy of follow-up. - the south-central portion of the tenement was surrendered in September 2004, as it was determined that there no clear drill targets had been defined. - a regolith landform interpretation was compiled using Landsat ETM+7 multiband ratioed data sets. Residual, erosional and depositional regimes were defined for the retained licence area. This was a more detailed study than the earlier one made by Acacia Resources, which had been done using aerial photographs. The tenement was surrendered by Aquila on its 4th anniversary date of 18th September 2005, by then being deemed to have only low potential for finding economic Olympic Dam - type IOCG mineralisation.
