Diamond exploration undertaken within the relinquished portions of EL 2759, which are located immediately south of William Creek and near the Oodnadatta Track, was focussed on the margin of the Gawler Craton where it is cut by the NNW-trending G2 gravity corridor. The general area is known to host abundant kimberlite indicator minerals derived from a Jurassic age secondary source which had trapped fresh such mineral grains being shed from a Permian land surface. The licensee utilised undercover drill sampling (25 vertical shallow aircore holes for 589.5 m, spaced at 4.8 km intervals on a staggered grid) to search for diamonds and for trails of indicator minerals that may lead to concealed diamond-bearing rock. Interpreted Mesozoic palaeocurrent directions indicated a predominant fluviatile flow towards the north through EL 2759. In a separate assessment of the iron oxide associated copper-gold potential of the G2 corridor section within EL 2759, geophysical consultant Chris Anderson of Euro Exploration was commissioned to re-interpret the gravity and magnetic response of the local basement in the hope of better identifying deep zones where major structural breaks are possibly related to mineralisation. An existing deep combined magnetic/gravity anomaly at Ferguson Hill, so far unexplained by a single previous drillhole, remains highly prospective. Scope for possible multiple episodes of Prominent Hill - type haematitic brecciation and metasomatic flooding, similar to that interpreted by Minotaur Exploration to have occurred in their tenement lying to the west of EL 2759, was also addressed by Flinders Diamonds. Pitt Research and Stewart Geophysical Consultants were contracted to perform a "spectral depth analysis" of the magnetic data, to find areas of shallow crystalline magnetic basement that might disclose such prospective volcanogenic targets.
