Exploration for economic accumulations of dolomite mud in the beds of two small salt lakes located at the southern end of the Coorong consisted of push-tube sampling of lakebed sediments plus limited surface geological mapping of lake shoreline outcrops. Only thin intersections of unconsolidated white carbonates, to a few cm thick, were seen in the subsurface core samples, so it was decided to relinquish this part of the licence.
