Continued exploration of a licence area situated 40 km south of Olary, that straddles the southern boundary of the Curnamona Province where it meets the northern end of the Nackara Arc, has concentrated on seeking possible Delamerian intrusive - related copper-gold- molybdenum mineralisation associated with the high-level Anabama Granite - Cornwell Granite batholith. Other targets comprised Palaeoproterozoic iron oxide - associated copper-gold deposits of Olympic Dam / Ernest Henry type, and sedex style stratiform base and precious metal occurrences like those found at Broken Hill and Cannington. Giralia Resources purchased EL 2867 and the adjoining, related ELs 2938 and 2939, from the previous joint licensees Lynas Corp. and Mawson Gold in December 2001. Due to most of its subsequent on-ground activity having comprised appraisal RC and RAB drilling at the Blue Rose prospect, a new mineral discovery that was made in EL 2297/2938, Giralia's work on EL 2867 has been less substantial. A consultant was retained to carry out geophysical modelling of aeromagnetic anomalies in the north of the licence area, and additional geological mapping and soil/rock chip sampling was performed to investigate geochemical anomalies extending westwards from the Wadnaminga Goldfield. The most significant work completed was the acquisition and interpretation of a detailed gravity survey (38 stations in the south-eastern corner of the licence, as part of an 880 station, 20 square km larger grid) to map density features along a NW-striking fault zone that passes through the Blue Rose prospect. A number of gravity low anomalies were identified, including those at the Giles Knob and Round Hill prospects, which are inferred to arise from buried porphyritic intrusive stocks. A similar scale gravity feature drilled by Giralia during April-October 2002 at the Blue Rose prospect led to the discovery of sub-economic skarn type Cu-Au mineralisation.
