Possible accumulations of placer gold and other economic heavy minerals were the targets of exploration that was begun over an area of piedmont outwash alluvial fans formed at the northern extremity of the Flinders Ranges uplifted igneous basement. Interpretation of satellite radar images and some limited ground magnetic surveying were used to try to locate buried, near-surface pre-Quaternary palaeochannel deep leads which might contain dense and probably magnetic sedimentary mineralisation. However, inconclusive early results from field investigations, and perceived likely Native Title complications with accessing land in order to drill, both acted to influence a decision to surrender licence tenure.
