EL 2788 (Bonython Hill) covers 120 square km of the Broken Hill Domain, and is regarded as being prospective for Broken Hill - type (BHT) lead-zinc-silver mineralisation and for iron oxide - associated copper-gold (IOCG) deposits. As one of its PACE Initiative Year 3 projects, Minotaur Exploration proposed and was granted funding to drill a single hole to test coincident gravity/TEM anomalies at the Roundhill prospect. Here the company's earlier ground TEM surveys had verified the existence of a bedrock conductor that is coincident with a gravity anomaly. In addition to carrying out the TEM surveys, a ground magnetic survey had also been completed at the site. One inclined RC drillhole to 200 m total depth was completed at the Roundhill prospect in February 2006. Downhole lithologies encountered included pelites and felsic and mafic gneisses. A narrow interval of semi-massive sulphide was intersected, which is the probable cause of the TEM anomaly. A broad interval of low grade zinc mineralisation was also intersected. The most anomalous downhole sample assay returned from this interval was 16 m @ 0.31% Zn and 295 ppm Co. Further work will be done to follow-up this intersection.
