In Terramin's PACE Initiative Year 2 subsidised drilling programme which addressed brownfields exploration targets at its Angas zinc deposit near Strathalbyn, the first approved diamond drillhole (AN084) was designed to test for down-plunge extensions of the Central Zone mineralisation (Rankine Trend) and for possible underlying parallel ore shoots (the Jettner Zone), which it was believed may have been structurally offset from the former lode by an inferred NNW-striking, steeply east-dipping fault. AN084, which was drilled on a declination of 78 degrees to a total depth of 750.3 m, successfully intersected the Central and Jettner zones, encountering significant sulphide mineralisation in both. Unfortunately, this mineralisation was dominated by iron sulphides, with pyrrhotite >> pyrite. Some base metal mineralisation, mainly sphalerite, was present, but only in trace amounts. The second PACE-subsidised diamond drillhole, AN109, which is the deepest drilled to date at the Angas prospect, was designed to intersect the recently recognised Jettner Deeps downhole EM geophysical anomaly, and this hole was sited approximately 300 m south of AN084. It has provided a good cross-section through the most prospective horizon of the Tapanappa Formation. Drilled on a 70 degree declination to a total depth of 954.3 m, the hole intersected all three of the potentially ore-bearing garnetiferous pelitic schist zones that have been identified at the Angas prospect. The East Zone occurs at 95-210 m depth, the Central Zone at 552-574 m depth, and the Jettner Zone at 692-748 m depth. Sulphide mineralisation of consequence was only observed in the Central Zone. Although this 2.0 m thick intersection, of 5.2% Zn+Pb mineralisation, is below minimum grade requirements used for defining ore reserves at Angas, it is considered very significant that potentially ore-grade mineralisation has been identified along strike/down plunge in a position within the prospect where there is minimal drillhole coverage. The intersection has also shown that there is good continuity along strike of sulphide mineralisation, with only a minor offset (30-40 m) in an E-W direction from the nearest ore-grade mineralisation (Garwood Trend), which lies approximately 400 m to the north.
