Two licence sub-areas located along the north-western side of Lake Torrens and extending out into the middle of the lake were taken up to explore for possible Olympic Dam style iron oxide - associated copper-gold(-uranium) deposits, concealed at depth in the Proterozoic basement. Following a review of previous company drillhole and geophysical data, and the reprocessing and interpretation of the latter, preparations were made to conduct regional and infill gravity surveys over the bed of the lake. However, early in the process of making land access negotiations with native title claimants it became apparent that exploration access onto the lake would be denied by the majority of tribal custodians. To avoid causing discord amongst them it was resolved to conduct a limited gravity survey only of the land portion bordering the lake in the southern licence subarea. 84 stations were read in November 2000 on an approximate 2 km x 2 km grid. No further field work was done before a corporate decision was made to allow tenure to lapse.
