As a response to the discovery of detrital diamonds in the Triassic basal conglomerate of the Springfield Basin, which lies 22 km south-east of the subject licence area, Savanna Mineral Resources and then ownership transferee Amity International conducted confirmatory bulk sampling of stream sediments in the Partacoona Homestead area, which previous explorers had reported as containing a significant suite of kimberlite indicator minerals, plus one microdiamond. A consultant was retained to perform a detailed structural/geomorphological interpretation of remote sensing images for both EL 2050 and a larger adjoining licence (Kanyaka EL 1948) also held by Amity International. This work highlighted the possible importance of interpreted extensional fault features in controlling the emplacement of any post-Delamerian intrusive bodies, this being a local aspect of diamond exploration potential that appears not to have been addressed earlier. The discovery within EL 1948 in mid 1987 of a very kimberlitic indicator - rich polymict breccia, that probably represents the remains of a strongly weathered and decomposed diatreme body, meant that most activities since that time have concentrated on the larger Kanyaka licence rather than the subject EL 2020/EL 2738 ground.
