An area located about 50 km north-west of Oodnadatta was explored for possible economic epithermal/hydrothermal or stratiform base metals in buried Precambrian, Palaeozoic and Mesozoic rocks, because a strong satellite anomaly had been seen in a band ratio image of a Landsat 7 ETM+ scene, which was thought to be indicative of a gossanous / iron-rich zone. The target lies within the Arckaringa intracratonic basin, close to the eastern margin of the Officer Basin. Caldera Resources planned to perform reconnaissance soil and rock chip sampling over the surface spectral anomaly zone during the 2004 field season, but this work was not carried out.
