This licence, located ~30 km north-east of Venus Bay on western Eyre Peninsula, was taken out to explore for possible iron oxide - associated copper-gold deposits hosted in Proterozoic igneous basement. Basement rock exposures are very scarce within the tenement, and are restricted to just Mesoproterozoic Hiltaba Suite granite, outcropping on prominent rises located ~15 km north-east of Colley Hill and near Mount Damper: otherwise, the terrain is characterised by extensive Quaternary calcrete and calcarenite, along with aeolian sand dunes and spreads. A gravity survey was completed by Minotaur over most of the tenement, though access in some regions was seriously handicapped by thick vegetation and lack of tracks. The new survey incorporates 469 gravity stations read at 1 km intervals along E-W lines spaced 2 km apart. The relinquished areas include 232 of the above gravity stations. Regional residual gravity anomalies of low amplitude cover much of the tenement, consistent with the presence of granitic plutons of the Mesoproterozoic Hiltaba Suite. A NNW-trending magnetic lineament situated west of Moonlight Flat, which comprises both high and low amplitude anomalies, is approximately 20 km long and 5 km wide. Coincident with it are positive residual gravity anomalies that are roughly 1 km across and that have amplitudes of between 2 to 4 mGal, perhaps reflecting zones of Mesoproterozoic haematite-rich alteration. Five grab samples of such haematite-chlorite altered, brecciated granite and associated pegmatite, obtained from spoil heaps near shafts and trenches at the historic Kottata gold mine, were analysed for a suite of elements. Some samples were anomalous in rare earths, but their gold and copper values were very low.
