The Koonunga limestone prospect occurs within the Cambrian Kapunda Marble, which forms part of the Kanmantoo Trough metasedimentary sequence deposited on the eastern side of the Adelaide Geosyncline. The limestone outcrop of interest is located approximately 10 km north of Nuriootpa, and tenure over it was taken up by Unimin for 12 months under two Mineral Claims, in April 2005. During the reporting period a 50 hole reverse circulation drilling programme totalling 1802 m was conducted across the prospect. XRF silicate analyses were performed on 1485 drill cuttings samples taken at 1 m depth intervals, by a laboratory based at Braeside in Victoria. The assay results indicated that the limestone does not meet the required raw material quality for Unimin's industrial manufacturing purposes. No further exploration work will be conducted by Unimin on the deposit. Rehabilitation included the back filling of open drillholes, and minor landscaping of drill site access tracks.
