Exploration for possible buried economic stratiform base metal deposits that may have formed within metamorphosed Cambrian volcanogenic sediments, which was carried out over an area extending between Port Elliot and Carrickalinga Head on the southern Fleurieu Peninsula, has consisted only of the conduct of limited surface soil and rock chip geochemical sampling over interpreted magnetic targets by the original JV operator North Ltd, plus their acquisition of a ground magnetic survey and the drilling early in December 1995 of 14 shallow vertical RAB drillholes for a total of 174 m at the Balbara prospect, located 5 km north-west of Parsons Beach. The latter activity proved to be unsuccessful, while the subsequent re-processing and interpretation of aeromagnetic data performed by Terramin Resources suggested that another three still untested prospects could questionably hold better potential. However, the discovery by the JV partners of significant economic mineralisation at the Angas zinc prospect located in another project licence area diverted their efforts away from EL 2775, until its imminent expiry prompted a decision to surrender tenure.
