An area situated along the western margin of the Gawler Ranges was taken up by a local landowner to explore for possible economic copper-gold and platinum metal deposits. His initial aerial reconnaissance of surface geological structures was made in 2000, and following the grant of the licence, was augmented by a consultant geologist's interpretation of regional geophysical data to select structural features that were suitable for geochemical sampling. Limited calcrete, rock and sand sampling was done during 2004 along the southern and eastern perimeter of the licence area, but the related assay results can not now be provided by the licensee. Continuing issues with obtaining Aboriginal land work clearances, and the area's proximity to the newly created Gawler Ranges National Park, are claimed to have hampered work efforts to the extent that tenure ultimately had to be surrendered.
