Exploration for possible economic, Mesoproterozoic basement-hosted iron oxide - associated copper-gold-uranium (IOCGU) deposits, within an area lying 40 km west-northwest of Coober Pedy, primarily addressed a strongly expressed northeast-trending lineament seen on plots of regional geophysical data. However, on the basis of a detailed review of available geological data, no evidence of IOCGU alteration or mineralisation, or of Hiltaba Suite / Gawler Range Volcanics magmatism, could be recognised within the tenement. A consultant geophysicist was able to identify two slight residual gravity anomalies (magnitude 0.5-1.5 mGal) along the lineament of interest, but no planned field work (ground gravity surveys and deep diamond drilling) was undertaken to explore these anomalies before a decision was made to surrender tenure.
