Investigation of an anecdotal historic ?alluvial gold occurrence located adjacent to the Lochiel - Ninnes Road has consisted of a field reconnaissance and some surface geochemical sampling (31 soil, 2 weathered metasedimentary bedrock) along a 20 m profile of a poorly incised E-W drainage line at the alleged discovery location. Despite the area's position close to a major structural break between Adelaidean and Palaeoproterozoic basement rocks, no anomalous trace metal geochemical assay values were returned from the samples taken, and it was decided that the information given about past gold discovery was spurious. The exploration licence was therefore surrendered.
