Investigation of several old abandoned limestone quarries in the Kongorong area, situated about 20 km south-west of Mount Gambier, was able to identify only one with uncontaminated, flint-free rock suitable for processing for agricultural or industrial purposes. Chemical analysis results for one sample taken from this quarry are reported. To reserve the quarry material for possible future mining, a Mineral Claim, MC 3829, was taken out and registered on 28/8/2007. Subsequently, a Mining Lease covering 15.4 ha of the quarry environs was successfully applied for in November 2007, being offered to the claimant on 18/4/2008.
