Activity on these deposits has consisted of one phase of trial mining of 600 cubic m of the best quality part of the Warnes deposit, stockpiling of the extracted gypsum-rich lakebed sediments, chemical analysis of 39 bulked samples of this stockpile for comparison with the grades of the previously obtained in-situ push-tube core samples, and investigations of the best method of removing the major impurity, common salt, from the stockpiled product. Also reported are the results of intensive ongoing market research that has been conducted by the lessees to find possible customers for the gypsum and/or potential buyers of the mining rights to the deposits.
