Neoproterozoic glacial sedimentary units in the intramontane basinal valley located east of Leigh Creek and Copley, which were considered likely to contain possible geologically suitable palaeo-depositional sites for secondary uranium mineralisation that could have formed distal to the primary Mount Painter - Mount Gee uranium occurrences, have been investigated by conducting ground scintillometer traverses of inferred receptive host units (pyritic or carbonaceous beds conducive to possessing a chemically reducing environment) and of diapir-related fault zones which may have caused hydrothermal remobilization and perhaps a more localised entrapment of such uranium ore. No significant radiometric responses attributable as evidence of either transported sedimentary or fault-mobilised uranium mineralisation were disclosed by the geophysical work, nor was any anomalous uranium or base metal geochemistry revealed by an orientation biogeochemical survey of the cover, carried out in the southern part of the Mount Roebuck EL. A lack of palaeochannel-like structures, and an apparent paucity of uranium-enriched granitic source rocks in the probable past catchments to palaeodrainage systems entering the presently preserved sedimentary basins, has also served to downgrade the prospectivity of the licence areas.
