In a search for possible economic buried sediment-hosted, 'disseminated' style gold deposits formed within Neoproterozoic strata in an area located immediately south-east and east of Olary, reconnaissance 1:10,500 scale geological mapping and stream sediment (99 samples) and rock chip (154 samples) geochemical sampling identified five prospects warranting further investigation. The 'Maldorky Special Study' area, located in the south-eastern corner of the licence, yielded up to 32 g/t Au in one of the four prospects identified within that area. At Junction Creek mine, which apparently was not previously recorded, the workings include a vertical shaft to about 8 m deep and several shallow diggings extending north-easterly over a length of about 250 m. Rock chip sampling of tension fracture - filling malachite and minor azurite mineralisation yielded up to 32 g/t Au and 760 g/t Ag in a 3 m wide fissure zone. Follow-up auger drilling yielded negligible metal values. At Jim's Well mine, located 1.2 km south-east of Junction Creek mine and also within the Maldorky Special Study area, copper workings extend north-easterly over a distance of 200 m. Rock chip sampling of supergene mineralised quartz veins yielded up to 27 g/t Au and 24 g/t Ag. Follow-up rock chip and stream sediment sampling of the surrounding area did not identify further mineralisation. At Teague's Fork, located 700 m north-west of Maldorky homestead and within the Maldorky Special Study area, mapping and sampling located a 250 m wide gossanous fracture system, which yielded up to 10 g/t Au and 28 g/t Ag. Follow-up work did not identify additional mineralisation. The Dalkey-Mildaltie copper mines, located about 5 km west of Radium Hill and within the Maldorky Special Study area, were previously reported as exploiting copper and silver-lead sulphide deposits, mined to a depth of at least 40 m. Here Aztec Mining Co. took geochemical samples that yielded high Cu and As values, but only moderately anomalous Au and Ag. Investigation of the surrounding area did not disclose any significant mineralisation. Treloar's prospect, located about 3 km north-east of Wiawera homestead, comprises several back-filled costeans on a surface copper showing. Inspection of the prospect and the surrounding area did not reveal significant mineralisation. A Landsat thematic mapper photogeological study identified two structural targets in a west-northwest trending lineament.
