Exploration for possible IOCG drilling targets within an area located 100 km north-northeast of Kyancutta, that abuts the southern shoreline of Lake Gairdner, initially involved planning for a regional gravity survey to be acquired across three of Intermet's ELs, including the subject EL 3598. However, that survey was delayed in execution because of hindrances in obtaining Native Title clearances for ground access over all of the planned coverage, and consequently a fall-back exploration programme was implemented. This involved the conduct of regional calcrete geochemical sampling (987 samples) which, disappointingly, returned only slightly elevated gold and no base metal values of significance. There were 17 gold values greater than 5 ppb, but only two values greater than 10 ppb (maximum 19 ppb Au). Only two multi-sample gold anomalies identified in the centre and north of the EL were considered worthy of follow-up, but the recommended infill calcrete sampling, down to 250 m spacing, was not carried out before it was decided to surrender tenure.
