An area located 55 km east of Marree was explored for possible sedimentary uranium deposits hosted by Tertiary piedmont sediments shed from granitic basement outcrops of the northern Mount Babbage Inlier. A study of available regolith stratigraphic information, augmented by an interpretation of thermal infrared night-time satellite imagery, has indicated that the inferred prospective Tertiary host rocks are almost absent from the subject licence, perhaps due to erosion and/or tectonic controls as evidenced by a locally diminished palaeoslope and dissected silcrete cappings to remnant mesas and plateaux, while the observed outcrops of unconformably underlying Mesozoic strata are of an unsuitable type to contain sandstone-hosted roll front type uranium occurrences. As a consequence of realising all of these negative factors, the decision was made to surrender tenure.
