Exploration for possible extensions of or structurally controlled analogues to the Kapunda copper deposit, in an area located just 1.5 km to the south of the historic mine, has examined part of a regional target fault structural corridor which stretches from Kapunda to Burra. Initial IP surveys performed on other project licences taken out to the north and east of the Kapunda mine, and a reconnaissance study of the mine geology and available drill cores, suggest that the line-of-lode extends southwards beneath Recent alluvial cover, and may occupy a position within the axis of a major syncline. However, planned subsequent drill tests by Copper Range of this zone where it lies within the subject licence did not eventuate because separate exploratory drilling of newly surveyed IP anomalies in the licensee's easterly adjoining EL 4131 encountered only trace amounts of oxidised copper mineralisation, with the IP response being attributed to disseminated pyrite in siltstone.
