During initial exploration of the Mount Mary area, located approximately 120 km north-east of Adelaide, the compilation and reprocessing of available gravity and magnetic data were used to interpret the bedrock geology hidden under a widespread 150-200 m thickness of cover, and to define buried intrusive bodies variously constituting targets prospective for porphyry-style Cu-Au-Mo, for magmatic mafic/ultramafic hosted Ni-Cu-PGE, or for skarn type Au ± base metals mineralisation. Eighteen magnetic and gravity targets were identified, of which two are probably porphyries, while the remainder are either skarns or mafic bodies. Four of these targets were classed by Copper Range as high priority, five as medium priority and nine as low priority. An inability to attract sufficient funds for drilling the perceived most prospective targets has lately resulted in the decision to surrender the licence.
