A search for possible economic North/South Alligator Rivers or McArthur River (NT) style epicratonic, unconformity - related sedimentary uranium deposits was conducted across two licences taken up over areas located west and south of Cleve on central Eyre Peninsula. In a manner formerly proven successful for uranium exploration in the possibly similar geological environment of the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan, the Canadian licensee employed airborne geophysics to delineate likely targets for subsequent on-ground evaluation. In July 2005, Fugro Airborne Surveys (Fugro) was contracted to fly 12,008 line km of airborne radiometric and magnetic data acquisition at a line spacing of 200 m, and also a trial TEMPEST electromagnetic survey of 233 line km. Later, 3,872 line km of TEMPEST regional EM acquisition was flown by Fugro in 2006, covering the southern portions of the project licences at a line spacing of 400 m. 104 radiometric anomalies were defined from the airborne radiometric survey, and 46 of these anomalies were investigated with follow-up ground radiometric surveying and reconnaissance outcrop sampling. Analyses were performed on 30 reconnaissance rock chip samples plus on another 62 samples selected from radiometric anomaly follow-up. Air-core drilling was undertaken next, in two campaigns (87 vertical holes for 1,349.6 m completed by Top End Drilling in 2007, and 121 vertical holes for 4,017 m completed by Bullion Drilling in 2008) to test conductivity anomalies interpreted from the aerial EM data, with the aim of determining bedrock lithologies and uranium prospectivity in areas obscured by overlying sand cover. This drilling defined three main areas of interest at Boothby, Driver River and Mount Hill. The best uranium intercept was made in drillhole CRA0183 in the Mount Hill area, where up to 180 ppm U3O8 was encountered in pyritic biotite-rich pelite of the Hutchison Group. Four diamond drillholes having a total penetration of 1119.6 m were completed by Boart Longyear in 2008, partly to test a deep conceptual fault-related structural target at the existing Benbuy SE prospect identified by Afmeco in 1979 (hole CRD0089), and also to investigate some geochemical anomalies associated with EM conductors previously defined by Cameco's aircore drilling at Boothby (CRD0088), Driver River (CRD0090) and Mount Hill (CRD0091). The best uranium intercept made by the diamond drilling was from drill core cut in hole CRD0090, which returned assay values of up to 38.4 ppm U3O8 from the depth interval 21.0-23.4 m, in limonitic and haematite-weathered calc-silicate rocks and ophicalcites of the Katunga Dolomite. However, overall results from the diamond drilling were disappointing, with little encouragement noted from the drill cores' geochemistry and only limited alteration evident in them that could be related to uranium mineralising events. No on-ground work was conducted during the fourth year of tenure, before a decision was made to surrender both project licences.
